No. Models & Talent National is a casting agency. A casting director/assistant is NOT an agent. A casting director does not take a commission from talent or charge a fee to actors/models. The casting director performs a service which is paid for by the production company, ad agency or client.
What is the difference between a talent agent and casting agent?
Talent Agents represent actors and models and work with casting directors, producers, etc. to hire the specific talent they are representing. Casting Agents/Directors are typically part of the staff for a production and work for the client that would be hiring the talent. Casting Directors assist the production/client with finding and hiring the talent for their project. Basically Talent Agents work for the talent and Casting Agents work for the client. Casting agencies do not represent actors but they do have large databases from which they pull talent.
Do I need professional photos and what kind of photos should my portfolio include?
For Models:
It is recommended that you obtain professional photos for clients to view when viewing your portfolio. Your portfolio should include headshots as well as full-length shots. Consider when creating your portfolio that you will only want to put your best photos forward and you will want to show a variety of images. Remember, you want the client to envision you selling their product or service so be sure that all of your photos are not the same in nature. Versatility is key here. It is recommended that a portfolio contain no more than twenty images.
For Actors:
It is recommended to always have a recent headshot. You also want to have your headshots printed and attached to the opposite side of your resume. The two should always go hand-in-hand. When selecting a photographer we recommend finding someone who specializes in headshots. Portrait photos may make you look great, but without insight into the industry, the photos may be overlooked.
Should I keep a resume?
Yes, just like any job, you should have a resume highlighting your talents, skills and experiences.
